The G20 summit in the national capital will see a surge in international tourists, keen to explore the many places of interest here. To ensure a smooth travel experience, the Delhi Metro has announced tourist smart cards for these travellers, including the G20 delegates. The move has been planned to accommodate the expected passenger surge in the metro, known for its comprehensive connectivity to many tourist attractions in Delhi.
Starting September 4, the Delhi Metro has been offering the 'Tourist Smart Cards' from dedicated counters at 36 stations. The card issuance will continue till September 13. Usually, these cards are available regularly, but special counters have been set up for ten days during the summit to make the entire process more convenient for tourists. The G20 Leaders' Summit is scheduled for September 9-10 in New Delhi.
You can purchase these cards at dedicated counters in 36 stations, including popular ones like Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazar, New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Lok Kalyan Marg and Supreme Court metro stations.
You can choose between two types of cards: one-day and three-day validity cards, which grant you unlimited rides on the metro network. These special counters are set up to make it easier for G20 delegates and international visitors attending the G20 Summit in Delhi to explore the city's top tourist attractions.
The one-day Tourist Smart Card costs INR 200, and the three-day card costs INR 500. These prices also include a refundable security deposit of INR 50, as per the DMRC.
