For those seeking a culinary escape this November, The Nautilus Maldives offers an opportunity to explore the rich flavours and cultural significance of Maldivian tuna, guided by the culinary mastery of Chef Pietro Catalano. From November 23 to 25, this luxurious retreat will host a three-day gastronomic event that promises to be as enlightening as indulgent.

Commenting on the collaboration, Chef Pietro said, "The exceptional quality of Maldivian yellowfin tuna, celebrated for its rich flavour, firm texture, and versatility, has always been a source of inspiration and a catalyst for my creativity. Its adaptability allows endless possibilities for culinary expression, enabling me to showcase my creativity, from simple, elegant preparations to highly refined techniques."

"At CAAA, we love to work with the finest produce and prioritise sustainable suppliers to create exceptional dishes that reflect our commitment to quality and ethical practices. The sustainably fished tuna from the Maldives helps me add ethical value to my creations and perfectly aligns with The Nautilus' focus on providing guests with ingredients that are nutritionally valuable and sourced responsibly."

The Maldivian Tuna

The Maldivian tuna fishery is at the heart of this event, a vital part of the nation's economy and cultural heritage. Known for its sustainable pole-and-line fishing methods, the Maldives sets a global standard in responsible fishing practices. This event not only celebrates the yellowfin tuna, a prized ingredient in fine dining but also underscores the importance of sustainable consumption, especially in an era of overfishing and environmental challenges.

Chef Pietro Catalano, the visionary behind Switzerland's celebrated CAAA restaurant, will curate a menu that transforms yellowfin tuna into a gourmet experience. Guests will have a culinary journey with two menus over two nights at Zeytoun, the resort's fine dining restaurant. Each dish is designed to elevate the rich flavours of tuna, showcasing Chef Pietro's innovative approach to this versatile ingredient.

But the experience doesn't end with the food. The event will also feature a bespoke cocktail menu curated by a trio of experts: Chef Pietro, Elena Catalano and Sommelier Stefania Catalano. Their mixology approach, rooted in zero-waste techniques, draws inspiration from the Mediterranean, Alpine, and Maldivian regions. Guests will savour these innovative cocktails, perfectly paired with the evening's dishes, while enjoying gourmet snacks at the exclusive Nautilus Rising beach pop-up.
