If you’ve ever wanted to attend Oktoberfest but haven’t quite made the trip to Germany yet, consider attending the first-ever “Brezelfest Goa 2024” this month. Held in Madgaon, the event will bring the best of German culture to South Goa, blending beer, authentic German dishes, live music and art workshops for a day packed with fun and flavours.
Here’s all you need to know about the unique Brezelfest Goa 2024 event.
The one-off event allows visitors to indulge in iconic German foods like pretzels, bratwurst, schnitzel and hearty sourdough sandwiches, all served with traditional flavours. Adding to the festive vibe, the Seven Rivers Brewing Co is providing 600 litres of specially brewed Munich Helles and 300 litres of German Pilsner, so you can enjoy fresh pours with your meal. Each sip of beer will take you a bit closer to Germany without ever leaving Goa.
In addition to all this, there will be lots of music. As per reports, the Die Kirchdorfer Oktoberfest Band from Munich, famous for their lively tunes, will have the crowd dancing along to their melodies, while local Goan band Alton Elvis will also enthral spectators with their songs. For those looking to unleash their creativity, the event will also feature interactive workshops on crochet, block printing, essential oils and more. Finally, a book launch by social worker Auda Viegas will also be held at the venue.
Brezelfest Goa 2024 is the brainchild of three businesspeople from South Goa: baker Andrea Thumshirn, artist Ragini Dhingra and gardener Yogita Mehra. They envisioned a festival that would offer a distinctive German flavour to Goa's lively atmosphere while bridging cultures via food, music and art. Their partnership hopes to enshrine Brezelfest as a yearly favourite that celebrates both cultures for residents and visitors.
