Vaishno Devi to Get Mythological Theme Park

Situated in Trikuta Hills in Katra town of Jammu and Kashmir, Vaishno Devi is one of the holiest and most visited pilgrimage places in India. 

Due to the heavy traffic of devotees, this region has seen a immense development in the last couple of years. From affordable stays options to medical facilities to  a clutch of good restaurants, every type of facility has been provided to make a devotee's journey comfortable.

Now we hear that administration officials of Jammu and Kashmir - and those from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine committee - are planning to set up a mythological theme park here.

For this, three possible locations have been identified - two near the near the shrine and one around 10km from the Katra bus stop. The park, which will have full connectivity, will also provide benefits like outdoor and indoor art and entertainment, shops, sports activities, rides and games, and quality food options.

The pilgrimage site had opened its doors for visitors and devotees in August 2020, after a lockdown of nearly five months, as the country was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic,&nbspwith a daily restriction of 100 people. Almost three weeks after its reopening, the shrine&rsquos management board increased the daily cap to 500.

Those who want to visit will have to register online. Children below 10 years, pregnant women, senior citizens and those with any ailments have been advised not to undertake the pilgrimage.

The pilgrimage site of Vaishno Devi, located atop the three-peaked Trikuta hill, sees worshippers embark on a 13km trek to the shrine located at a height of 5,200 ft. Although Vaishno Devi yatra is a round-the-year event, the one taken during Navratri is considered the most auspicious.

In 2020, the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine had announced the launch of a mobile app where devotees could access live darshan and also conduct live havan. The Vaishno Devi app&nbspalso enables home delivery of the puja prasad through Speed Post.
