Between the months of March and May, when the tulips are ready to bloom, Srinagar hosts the magical Tulip Festival on the foothills of the Zabarwan mountains overlooking the Dal Lake and located at an altitude of 5,600 ft.

The 15-day festival not only hosts a variety of tulips in every colour, but has an array of blooming daffodils, hyacinths, roses, ranculi, muscaria and iris as well.

Covering a ground of more than 30 acres, the terraced garden has been built into the side of a mountain. It has been divided into seven terraces, each with a different type of flower.

The garden is open from 9am to 7pm daily. The tickets, for children and adults, are Rs 25 and Rs 50, respectively.
