Alleppey is your destination if you admire the rich culture of India and love the breathtaking
panorama by the sea. The coastal district of Kerala is coming up with a Port Museum at its beach to
give the visitors an experience of Alleppey&rsquos history as a port town. The museum will provide the
sightseers with the amazing view of the ancient Alapuzha Port along the beach. This idea came up
because of the initiative to turn Alleppey into Kerala&rsquos heritage tourism city. An overall plan to
improve the city&rsquos infrastructure is being carried out, to offer the tourists the best experience of
southern India. Many old buildings would be renovated and converted into theme based museums
depicting the ancient way of life practiced in the place. The Portuguese, Dutch, English and the Arabs
who sailed to this land before centuries for trade will find a place in the museum. Even movie stars
would be honoured here with a special space being allotted for the display of movies shot in
Alleppey. Photographs, videos, handicrafts and lot of art works would be present in the museum
which will give the visitors a sense of rich heritage of the city.

Every year Alleppey witnesses a huge crowd of tourists who visit the place to get the exposure of its
spectacular backwaters, luxurious houseboats, the local cuisines and the famous Snake Boat race.
This move from Kerala is icing on the cake for the visitors who can now enjoy the beautiful view of
coconut groves along the beaches and explore the bygone culture of the place.
