Travellers' University, a Dehradun based learning community, which supports individuals keen to travel and learn to deepen their knowledge, is holding their third Cycle Yatra between March 27 and April 2, 2021.

Called the Swapathgami Cycle Yatra, it will be held in Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab this year. The Yatra is being co-organised and hosted by Sanjhi Sikhiya, an organisation based in Punjab.

The main idea behind the Cycle Yatra is to help participants travel through rural India, learning about the diverse cultures, history and the communities.

The Swapathgami Network (a network of self-taught seekers) has been hosting these journeys for the past 16 years. The main aim is &lsquoto create and recreate the opportunity for people who are seeking alternatives for better world, with an intention to learn from the local communities and experience traditional value systems&rsquo.

According to the website, participants will be cycling through the land of five rivers, spending nights in community spaces, learning from people and earning food by building real connections and contributing physical labour.

As the focus is on connecting with the surroundings and the people, participants are not allowed to carry money or things like their cell phones.

Fategarh Sahib is named after Fateh Singh, the youngest son of Guru Gobind Singh. The Gurdwara here commemorates the martyrdom of the young sons of Guru Gobind Singh.
