Now Renew your International Driving Permit, While Abroad

Don&rsquot worry if your international driving permit (IDP) has expired. Travel more and worry less as you will soon be able to renew your IDP while still overseas. IDP holders will be able to apply through portals of Indian embassies or missions abroad and the applications will then be sent to the Parivahan portal for the respective RTOs to process the request.

The renewal proposal also states the removal of some cumbersome conditions, like providing a medical certificate or a valid visa at the time of application.  

The visa clause too is sought to be removed as many countries have visa on arrival.

This proposal would come in handy for those travelling abroad as it would not only make travel hassle-free but also get rid of the burden of going through the process beforehand. Self-driving in many foreign countries also becomes extremely economical and helps save a lot on car and chauffer rentals.
