See A Total Solar Eclipse From Antarctica

Polar cruise company, Poseidon Expeditions is organising a 23-day voyage to view the total solar eclipse in 2021 from Antarctica.

The expedition is all set to begin from Ushuaia, the world&rsquos southernmost city in a M/V Sea Spirit cruise, accommodating 114 guests. According to Polar Cruises, &ldquoThe smallest suite is as spacious as 215 sq ft (20 sq m). Every suite has an exterior view along with 15 of them with balconies. All suites also have access to satellite phone, flat-screen TVs, DVD players and internet.&rdquo

After the beginning of the expedition, the cruise will head to Malvanis Islands, South Georgia, South Oakney Islands, Aitcho Islands and finally back to Ushuaia, all within a span of 23 days.

As the days proceed and the eclipse nears, you will be across Scotia Sea and moving towards Antarctica. &ldquoThe goal now is to get into perfect position for observing a total solar eclipse. To accomplish this remarkable feat, the captain will navigate the ship precisely onto the narrow path of totality&mdashthe relatively small area from which one can see the sun&rsquos light become totally obscured by the moon&mdashat the precise time of the predicted eclipse,&rdquo says their website.

The cruise will be in a narrow path of totality when the eclipse occurs. Also onboard will be expert astrophysicist Paul M. Stutter to share his expertise on the topic.
