India&rsquos palate for fine chocolates is on the rise. As artisanal and craft brands steadily stock up next to compound chocolates&mdashnormally of a lower-grade and mixed with vegetable fats&mdashthere emerges an interest in understanding the science behind cocoa. Similar to wine, whisky and coffee tastings, you can now enjoy the finer aspects of chocolate with pop-up workshops. Our pick for the most credible event coming up in this sphere Tasting sessions hosted by Nitin Chordia, lined up at select Godrej Nature&rsquos Basket stores in Mumbai.

Chordia is India&rsquos first certified chocolate taster, and a member of the Grand Jury of the International Chocolate Awards. On February 14, 15 and 16, he will be taking guests through samples of &lsquothoughtfully-sourced&rsquo chocolates from Madagascar, Ecuador, Tanzania, Nicaragua and India. The workshops on the 14th will be at the Oberoi (noon) and Bandra (4 PM). On the 15th, the sessions will be split between Worli (noon) and Juhu (4 PM). And on the 16th, there is a single session planned at Vile Parle (4 PM).

A self-described &lsquocacao consultant&rsquo, Chordia has been holding these sessions since 2006 at the gourmet foods chain. He is also the founder of Cocoatrait, a chocolate tasting club with chapters located in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai. If you&rsquove got any burning questions (cacao vs cocoa, milk vs dark chocolate, food and wine pairings), his sessions seem the perfect starting point.

Seats are limited. For registrations and address information, you can message Nature&rsquos Basket on Instagram.
