Starting October 31st, you will be able to take a seaplane ride from Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. The decision to start the service on the Sardar Patel&rsquos birth anniversary was announced by the Gujarat government after a meeting was held in Gandhinagar for reviewing the progression of the water aerodrome operation in the state.
The government of Gujarat had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) in July to begin the first seaplane service in Gujarat. It aims to provide seamless and affordable air connectivity between the two places.
Spicejet will operate the seaplane service from Sabarmati and the inaugural flight will most probably take place on October 31. The fares for tickets will be around Rs4,800 for one person. Reports indicate that each day there will be four flights which include four departures and four arrivals.
The seaplane service scheme is being executed by the terms and conditions of a tripartite agreement between Gujarat government, the Airports Authority of India and the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation.
