At a time when the pandemic-hit world is learning to live with the new normal, event organisers across all sectors have moved to digital ways for engaging with their audiences. Joining the bandwagon is Chennai-based NGO Prakriti Foundation. Started in 1989 to provide a platform for artists from diverse fields, the organisation hosts art critics, researchers and poets.

In lieu of COVID-19, the foundation has decided to go virtual this year. Poetry with Prakriti, one of the four annual festivals hosted by the NGO will be held on Zoom. Prakriti will organise Zoom sessions on the first three Saturdays of every month in a year-long poetry meet that will extend till September next year. The sessions will feature the likes of Keki Daruwalla, Perumal Murugan and Priya Sarukkai among others will be moderated by renowned poet, Peter Griffin.

In order to provide opportunities for all forms of art, poetry from English as well as other languages will be welcome. Besides well known voices in the world of poetry, new and upcoming artists would also be given the virtual stage. A typical session would include a poet reciting his works for around 15 minutes followed by a Q&ampA session which will last for another 15 minutes. Poetry enthusiasts who wish to be a part of this event can register at  prakritifoundation@gmail.com.

After performing with a small intimate audience at cafes, colleges and boutiques for decades, Poetry with Praktriti is set to liven the digital space with its virtual poetry meet.
