Favre-Leuba Raider Bivouac 9000
This is the story of a watch that scaled Mount Everest. Umm, sure, it was strapped to the wrist of the ace mountaineer and mountain guide Adrian Ballinger, and other watches (most notably, the Rolex Edmund Hillary wore) have made their way to the peak too, but the Bivouac 9000 is one rugged timepiece. The &lsquo9000&rsquo conveys the altitude up to which it can measure. It is equipped with a special airtight aneroid barometer known for its accuracy. The latter is the essence of the watch&mdashits 1962 predecessor, in fact, was acclaimed for its barometric functionalities. The new model, of course, adds modern technology to the mix. The watch also has a tough 48mm titanium case, which improves the altimeter, and a 65-hour power reserve.
