The Perseids are visiting our corner of the galaxy again, and the showstopper is in the second week of August. Which gives you time enough to snap up the Nikon DSLR for astrophotography enthusiasts. And not just meteors, the D810A can capture H-alpha wavelengths of red light from distant galaxies and nebulae, in 36.3 megapixels of ultra-high definition images. There is a live preview option and optimisation for long, low-light exposures with minimal noise through an ISO sensitivity range of ISO 200 to 12,800 that can be further decreased to Lo 1 (ISO 100 equivalent) or increased up to Hi 2 (ISO 51,200 equivalent), and a shutter speed of 900 in Manual mode. The weather-resistant D810 build has been inherited, of course, so no worries about dust and dew gathering overnight. The sky truly is the limit here, besides your battery backup and memory card capacity. (Rs 2,49,950, www.nikon.co.in)
