The Odisha government is planning to promote tourism through road trips post COVID-19. If the pandemic situation becomes better by October, Odisha's tourism department will launch the campaign &lsquoRoad Trip To and Through Odisha&rsquo.
This is being planned as air and rail transport has hit a snag due to the pandemic. Tourists from neighbouring states such as Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal will be offered special schemes and invited to travel to Odisha by roads. The department has plans to offer lucrative packages for people undertaking road trips.
The state's tourism department will arrange foraccommodation and sightseeing for people travelling by road. The department plans to contact tour operators from neighbouring states and host virtual road shows showcasing the rich culture and heritage of the state. They will promote places less frequented by travellers.
