Nepal is again in news and it's all for a good reason. A team of mountaineers recently discovered a lake sitting snug at an altitude of 5,200 metres in the Manang district of Nepal. Kajin Sara, the said lake, is currently the world's highest lake though it is yet to be officially verified. At present, Tilicho Lake, also in Nepal, hold the title of the world's highest lake sitting at an altitude of 4,919 metres. The newly discovered Kajin Sara lake is located at Singarkharka in Chame rural municipality. It's only a matter of time for the verification to be finalised and then we will have the new world's highest lake.

According to Chame rural municipality Chair Lokendra Ghale, "As per the measurement of the lake taken by the team, it is located at an altitude of 5,200 metres, which is yet to be officially verified. It is estimated to be 1,500-metre-long and 600-metre-wide". The current highest Tilicho lake, measuring four kilometres in length, 1.2 kilometres in width and 200 metres in depth, is also one of the popular destinations for hikers on the Annapurna Circuit trek.
