2020 is going to a big year for Nepal. The goal To welcome 2 million tourists. Home to the highest peak in the world, diverse flora and fauna, multiple UNESCO heritage sites and blinding natural beauty, Nepal is determined is regain its pre-earthquake glory in the world of tourism. The government has been working vigorously both at home and abroad to fulfill the aim.

India and China, the country&rsquos immediate neighbours, are its biggest tourism source markets. Delegates have been travelling to multiple cities in both countries to promote their agenda, urging citizens to visit and explore Nepal. Several exciting events such as the&nbspEverest&nbspMarathon, international&nbspmountain biking contest, river rafting contest, etc are to be held next year in order to attract tourists. The nation will also host conferences on sustainable tourism, world&nbsphappiness day, and much more. 

In Europe, The Nepal Tourism Board organised the &lsquoNepal Sales Mission&rsquo in major tourist generating cities like Zurich, Paris and Brussels. They showcased Nepal as much more than just a destination for mountaineering, focusing on the vast cultural, heritage, spiritual, natural aspects of the country and elaborated on the enhancements and new tourism products being introduced. A multitude of tourism offerings are being made such as a hiking trail for differently-abled people in Pokhara and the efforts made to double the tiger population and conservation.

Plans to begin operation at two new international airports at Pokhara and Lumbini are underway. For the ease of tourists, The Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu will be open for an additional 3 hours to ensure availability of services. The private hotel sector intends to add 4000 new rooms in four and five-star category in Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Pokhara. Many international hotel chains, Hilton, DoubleTree, Marriott, are expected to open up in the coming years.
