CSMIA Mumbai Resumes Flights to Leading Tier-II Cities

Travelling to several leading tier-II cities of India becomes convenient with the Mumbai airport restarting several flights to these key destinations starting August.

According to a release from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) of Mumbai, the airport has reintroduced five domestic routes to tier-II markets &ndash Bareilly, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Ajmer and Porbandar &ndash with the upsurge in passenger traffic and states easing travel restrictions

With the Central government extending flying capacity to 65 per cent, there has&nbspbeen a&nbspsurge in travel to the tier-II markets, the airport authorities said.

According to the release, travel to sectors such as Hyderabad, Goa and Ahmedabad from Mumbai saw five to seven per cent rise. During the same period, domestic carriers such as Indigo, Air India and GoAir catered to over 3,50,000, 80,000 and 46,000  passengers, respectively, through approximately 2,700, 850 and 400 flights each to the tier-II cities from Mumbai.

CSMIA has undertaken various safety measures and has implemented numerous SOPs, including the preventive measures laid down by the governments to safeguard passengers' wellbeing and curb the spread of the virus, it said.
