Ministry Of Tourism Participates In China International Travel Mart

In order to strengthen trade and tourism ties between India and China, the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) recently participated in the China International Travel Mart, a 3 day event organised from 15th to 17th November, 2019 at Kunming, China. 

Inaugurated by Rupinder Brar, Additional Director, Ministry of Tourism, Dipak Haksar, Chief Executive, ITC hotels and other members on 15th November, 2019, the aim of the Indian pavilion at CITM was to promote India&rsquos varied tourism products and services including the Buddhist circuit. 

CITM which is one of the largest travel shows in India, offers innovative ideas and concepts for travel within Asia. The aim of the three day was to bring together tour operators and agents from both sides and provide them a platform to initiate an interaction. The event was an attempt to build stronger tourist circuits between India and China. The Indian Pavilion at CITM 2019 also showcased the Indian heritage through classical dance performances and yoga. A delegation of 35 members comprising of key players from the Indian tourism industry including Hoteliers, travel agents, airlines and railway agents visited CITM. 

Since tourism is an emerging sector in both the sides the objective was to increase the level of bilateral trade, business and governmental cooperation between the two countries and further facilitate business to business and business to government meetings. The government is also taking steps towards attracting more travellers from China in tune with its &lsquoAct East&rsquo and &lsquoChina Ready&rsquo strategies. 

In addition to Kunming, CITM was organised in two other Chinese cities namely Chengdu and Chongqing between 12th and 14th November, 2019.  With a successful run of incredible India roadshows, the CITM finally came to an end on 17th November, 2019.
