What are your first thoughts when I say beach holiday Miami beach Venice beach Bikini bod Or maybe a sun kissed look I&rsquom sure Manhattan is probably the last thing on your mind. Well, that&rsquos going to change now. Manhattan is all set to get its very own beach.
Plans are underway for a billion dollar Hudson River Park Project. Part of this park is the Gansevoort Peninsula which will be transformed into a 5.5 &ndash acres public Park with a resilient beach front. This recent announcement by the Hudson River Park Trust has left a lot of people excited. The new beach will be situated at the western end of Little West 12th Street. Though, not ideal for swimming this park will be the largest green space within the four mile Hudson River Park. The whole project is expected to cost $60 million.
The park will be designed to incorporate recreational areas and direct waterfront access along the Hudson River. As a protection against flooding and storms, rocky shoreline will be constructed that will act as a protective barrier. For the art enthusiast beachgoers there will be a public art installation by David Hammons in collaboration with the Whitney Museum. One might consider this project as more of a park than a typical beach but still a dose of sun and sand sounds like a plan.
