Odisha has decided to reopen its famous Sun Temple of Konark for visitors starting August 2 this year.

Visitor entry was barred as a precautionary measure during the second wave of pandemic.

According to a government notice, only 2,000 visitors will be allowed daily. They will have to undergo thermal screening before entry, wear masks, and maintain distancing norms.

Visitors may have to buy their tickets online. Contact the state tourism department for details

The 13th&nbspcentury Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is part of the state&rsquos Golden Triangle, the other two arms being Bhubaneswar and Puri.

Konark is well connected by road with Bhubaneswar (70km) and Puri (36 km via Marine Drive).

According to the tourism department, the Bhitarkanika National Park will be reopening on August 5.

The forest check posts from where you may enter the national park are about 160km by road from Bhubaneswar, the nearest airport.
