Do you travel often enough to feel like the airport is your second home Amen, sister. You&rsquod know the struggle of the long trips to the airport, checking in your baggage and the worst&mdashlong queues past security point. Bengaluru gets a relief then with the country&rsquos first fully automated self bag drop system. That&rsquos right &ndashyou no longer have to responsibly web-check in yourself beforehand only to realise that a long serpentine line to drop your bag awaits you.

South India&rsquos busiest airport is also set to become the most efficient. Bangalore International Airport Limited, which operates the Kempegowda International Airport, recently installed 16 fully automated self bag systems at the airport.

These systems will help to reduce the time taken by passengers at check-in queues, and increase the overall process of dropping the bags. This is how the process will work Passengers will print their boarding pass and a bag tag at a self check-in kiosk. Then they can scan their boarding pass at the bag drop machine, where their luggage will be scanned, measured and weighed. If at all a passenger has excess baggage, they will be directed to another counter to make the payment and complete the check-in.

"We're excited to be the first airport in the country to offer our passengers and airlines state-of-the-art technology that will ease the process of air travel.

Our goal is to use technology to improve the passenger experience and to make airport operations more efficient," BIAL's Chief Operating Officer Javed Malik said.
