We are almost certain that you&rsquod have (at some point) planned a road trip across the country with your best friend, in a caravan. While driving across the country may be a far-fetched dream in 2020, road tripping through Karnataka is completely possible.
Karnataka government recently launched caravan tourism via which you can hire a fully-equipped vehicle with convertible beds for four, a shower, modern toilet, a smart TV, and a music system. As for meals on board, a kitchenette including a refrigerator, freezer and a microwave is also available.
You can park the caravan at one of the facilities provided by the Karnataka State Tourism Department Corporation (KSTDC) hotels. The caravan bus is fully solar-powered and equipped with solar panels on its roof. The toilet is designed in such a manner so as to reduce the use of water (and has other resources to decompose waste).
In its first phase, the state will permit caravan tourism in Hampi, Gokarna, Badami, Kudremukh, Sakaleshpura, Beluru, Halebidu, Sakrebailu, and Coorg.
The initiative has been taken to boost tourism in the state. Tourism contributes significantly to the state's GDP, and it has suffered a huge hit due to the ongoing pandemic.
The caravan service is being provided by Campervan Camps and you can look up the packages and book services on their website.
Apart from caravan tourism, the government has also proposed phased redevelopment of 20 significant tourist spots in the state.
