For everyone who had dreamt of leaving it all behind and starting a new life, here's some good news  The Isle of Rum, located along the coast of Scotland, has put out applications for interested residents to join its current population of around 32. Applicants can apply to rent one of its four eco-homes that are currently under construction.

The isle is one of the most idyllic places on the planet and getting housing here can get competitive too.

People with trade, skill, or business that would benefit and diversify the local economy will be given preference while considering applications. Families with children are encouraged.

&ldquoWe have a population of around 32 people, including six children,&rdquo a resident here said. &ldquoWith only one child in nursery and two in our primary school, we need more families to fill our school as well as to be the next generation of islanders.&rdquo

The island that hosts an eight-mile-long National Nature Reserve with wild goats, deer, and white-tailed eagles, are looking for people interested in ecology too. According to the island&rsquos website, the jobs available here are in childcare, food production, house maintenance, fish farming, and mountain tourism.

Note that the houses are built rather close to each other, thus it would help if you are a neighbourly person who wouldn&rsquot mind having the entire town over for a party every now and then. All houses have great south-facing views into the Rum Cuillin, according to the website. The application deadline is on Aug. 28, 2020. Those interested can check out the new homes, and fill out the application on the island&rsquos website.
