Low cost airline Indigo has announced that it will be charging Rs100 if a passenger wants to opt for an airport check-in. The new rule has been brought into effect from October 17.

Due to the pandemic, the Ministry of Aviation had, in May, announced that passengers were required to opt for web check-in to ensure a contactless and safe experience at airports. Once the web check-in is done, the boarding pass will be issued by the airline to the passenger.

&ldquoWe encourage all passengers to web check-in as per the government directive, using our website or mobile app. The check-in fee at the airport counter is applicable on all bookings made, starting from today i.e. October 17, 2020,&rdquo Indigo said in a statement.

Domestic flights resumed in India on May 25, 2020 after a gap of two months following the nationwide lockdown to contain the pandemic. Meanwhile, international passenger flights continue to remain suspended in the country since March 23, 2020.

Most airlines are taking precautions to ensure a safe flying experience for their passengers. Face shields, hand sanitisers and face masks are being provided to everyone before they board the flight.
