The minute someone says Gujarat, the only picture that pops in one&rsquos mind is a plateful of steaming hot khaman dhokla or more typically &ndash a woman clad in traditional attire who&rsquos on the verge of breaking into a garba routine. Isn&rsquot it high time we moved beyond such stereotypes Well,the state has something in store that might help you associate Gujarat with something really fascinating.

Gujarat&rsquos Raiyoli village is now home to India&rsquos largest dinosaur museum and fossil park. This village situated in the Balasinor town of Mahisagar district is known to be the third largest dinosaur fossil site in the world and the second largest dinosaur hatchery where about 10,000 dinosaur eggs have been found.The fossil park contains life size statues of these massive creatures and further excavations have revealed traces of the existence of thick &ndash legged, heavy &ndash bodied creatures called Rajasaurus Narmandensis .The site is equipped with modern technology like 3D projection, virtual reality, interactive kiosks and life size dinosaur replicas.The museum has around 10 galleries with detailed displays of dinosaurs in India and fossil exhibitions. The museum houses as many as 40 sculptures that throw light on the size, shape, habits and habitat of these creatures. A step into this world will surely transport you to 65 million years back.

The museum was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani on June 8, 2019. &ldquoAll efforts will be made to promote the site internationally for tourism&rdquo said CM Vijay Rupani, according to an article in ANI. The state government has announced to allocate Rs 10 crore as funding for the same.

The Balasinor Dinosaur Museum is open on all days except Mondays, from 1000 AM to 600 PM. We suggest that you get ready to experience this real life Jurassic Park adventure
