Indian Railways is certainly trying to up its game, what with semi-high speed trains like the Tejas Express, projects that aim to redevelop railway stations into world-class transport hubs, and more.
Recently, they also turned two overaged coaches into a snazzy eatery.
Restaurant on Wheels was launched at the circulating area of Asansol Railway Station. The first of its kind by the Indian Railways, it can be accessed by passengers as well as the general public. It is a full-fledged 42-seater restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It was developed by refurbishing two old MEMU coaches.
Apart from that, two new air-conditioned retiring rooms, an Electronic Reservation Chart Display System and a battery operated car was also set up at the Asansol station.
