The extended list of winners of The World&rsquos 50 Best Restaurants 2019 is out and Indian Accent has moved up. Jumping 30 places this year, Manish Mehrotra&rsquos fine-dining establishment now stands at a global rank of 60. And, it is the only restaurant from India on the fine list.
The annual awards ceremony where the top 50 restaurants in the world are felicitated will be held on June 25, 2019 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The list is voted on by a diverse group of chefs, food writers and gastronomes. Last year, Osteria Francescana reclaimed the top spot.
Having moved to The Lodhi recently, Indian Accent is acclaimed for its Indian fusion cuisine. Since its launch the restaurant has been awarded various national and international accolades such as the San Pellegrino Best restaurant Award. The menu, designed under the guidance of Chef Mehrotra, combines the traditions of India with global techniques. A true inventor at heart, Mehrotra describes his style as &ldquoIndian food with an international accent&rdquo.
Certain crowd pleasers do deserve a special mention such as the blue cheese naan, mishti doi cannoli and the meetha aachar spare ribs. Sip on traditional drinks with a twist like the street fruit chaat sangria or masala martini while you wait for your meal to be prepared. Next time dinner plans arise do consider one of the capital&rsquos premier culinary experiences at Indian Accent.
For the amateur chefs around, when you find yourself browsing in a bookstore don&rsquot forget to flip through the Indian Accent Cookbook published by Mehrotra as it reveals the secrets behind multiple classic dishes.
