The pandemic has hit the tourism in many ways with travelling and flights remaining on pause for most of this year. Airlines in many countries are not faring very well. In such a scenario, many airline companies have come up with innovative ideas to keep their business afloat. The latest one to join the club is Thai Airways.
The national carrier of Thailand has converted the cafeteria of their Thailand head office into a full-fledged airline-themed restaurant which will not only serve airline-style food but also deliver the experience of flying with aircraft chairs and cutlery.
Apart from dining, diners also get the opportunity to meet 'cabin crew' who greet visitors in full uniform. The restaurant is also adorned with airplane seats and parts to lend it an authentic aircraft feel. Spare parts from fan blades, engines, and windows have been used as furniture. Also, each of these decor items come with a QR code so that visitors can look up information about the parts.
Serving about 2,000 meals per day, the restaurant has been a rather effective way to recover some of the lost business.
Now the airline company is looking to convert a few of its other offices in a similar manner.
