Hate standing in long queues at the airport Be it entry, security check or boarding Well, the government&rsquos Digi Yatra forum may soon rescue you from the ordeal.

A facial recognition system has already undergone a trial at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad. On the first day, 180 passengers enrolled themselves for the programme voluntarily. The idea is to process the passengers digitally through a facial recognition system at check points entry, security and before boarding.

&ldquoAdditionally, this will also facilitate self-bag drop and check-in, using facial recognition to identify pax and data recall. Digi Yatra will facilitate paperless travel and avoid identity check at multiple points,&rdquo said the National Portal of India.

In a time when our phone screens unlock with facial recognition, this feature is an attempt under Narendra Modi&rsquos Digital India's vision to transform the nation into a digitally empowered society.

How the process works Passengers can voluntarily enroll themselves.  After the submission of the necessary details, a Digi Yatra ID will be created which can be quoted while booking tickets. The details will be passed on to the departure airport. On the first travel, the person has to go to the registration kiosk to validate the ID.

At the Airport entry, a scan of the boarding pass/ e-ticket bar code/ QR code will validate passenger details and flight details. The Digi Yatra ID will then verify the identity by facial recognition.

So, will you be registering for this
