A player on the US travel services market, Hipcamp intends on becoming the Airbnb of the outdoors.

While Airbnb connects its customers with property owners, Hipcamp connects them to nature.

Hipcamp gains access to private land for outdoor recreation and camping with a millennial-friendly and easy-to-navigate user experience.

A site where people can browse, list, and book accommodations on private and public land,  Hipcamp also provides detailed information&nbspso travellers know what to expect, a campsite or glampsite.

Hipcamp has recently expanded overseas to host Hipcampers across the globe, and has hosted three million nights outside for its guests since it first opened.

The site integrates with the US National Weather Service such as Red Flag Warnings and Weather Watch Warnings to provide their guests and hosts with valuable fire advisories.

All Hipcampers are subject to review - they follow certain standards for safety, and uphold Hipcamp&rsquos pillar of &ldquoleave it better&rdquo and &ldquoleave no trace&rdquo.

Have a small property but want to be a host on Hipcamp No worries, Hipcamps demand a minimum land requirement of two acres. Some of Hipcamp listings are ordinary suburban backyards, off-grid plots, treehouses, or tent camping options.

Hipcamp&rsquos recently closed off a US$57 million in Series C funding round raising the company value to more than US$300 million.

According to a recent survey conducted by Global Data, the success behind Hipcamp comes from the increased demand for outdoor bookings reflecting the recent global tourism trend in domestic trips in non-urban locations. The survey also says 79 percent of respondents are either fairly or extremely concerned about the outbreak of Covid-19.

Ralph Hollister, travel and tourism analyst at GlobalData, says that &ldquoFear of contracting the virus has created a surge in demand for private and secluded trips away from urban areas, further playing into Hipcamp&rsquos hands during the summer of 2020 as many of its novel types of outdoor accommodation are located in rural areas.&rdquo

As predicted in the Covid-19 era, things like wilderness adventures, outdoors camping, hiking, stargazing, etc will all be big trends.

Another site similar to Hipcamp and tapping into the outdoors craze in the US is Yonder which offers travellers a chance to book cabins and ranches across the US, along with fun activities such as horse bonding, mushroom hunting, and more.

Let's hope we get similar options in India soon.
