The government of Goa has handed out a new set of guidelines for flyers to the state to follow. According to the new directives, all arriving passengers must undergo 14 days of home quarantine or an optional 14 days of paid institutional quarantine.
Institutional quarantine is mandatory for symptomatic passengers till test results state otherwise. However, passengers can apply for exemption from home quarantine if they produce a COVID-19 negative certificate issued by an ICMR-recognised lab, not older than 48 hours before the journey.
Passengers can also opt for a swab test upon arrival at a cost of Rs2,000, but in this case, they must agree to remain in paid institutional/home quarantine till the the test results come out.
Travellers opting for home quarantine must pre-book accommodation (hotels registered with the Department of Tourism) for the entire duration of the stay. The proof of the same will be checked at entry points. All tourists must undergo basic screening at entry. Any tourist exhibiting COVID-19 related symptoms upon arrival will be subjected to a test at the tourist&rsquos cost.
Subsequently, in case the tourist intends to change their originally booked place of stay, he/she must show the proof of re-booking to the Rapid Response leader of the accommodation unit, who&rsquoll be responsible for the shifting. Such changes will be allowed only within permitted accommodation units by the Department of Tourism in Goa.
Tourists are required to fill out a self-declaration form at the accommodation for contact tracing, if necessary. The passengers are also needed to certify their health status through the Aarogya Setu app or a self-declaration form.
The number of coronavirus cases in the state stood at 7,614 as of Friday, August 7, 2020.
