Climate change can hamper your holiday plans this summer. The weather warnings for Europe this June have turned to dark hues of red, orange and purple. Record high temperatures are being observed in the countries of France, Belgium, Spain, Italy with Germany crossing 40 degrees Celsius.

The cause for this heat wave is the hot air sucked up from the Sahara by the combination of a storm stalling over the Atlantic and high pressure over central Europe. This will lock in heat over much of Western Europe. The temperature along with humidity will then intensify over the course of time.

All state governments are activating extreme heat plans and calling for vigilance. In Paris around 900 "cool places" have been designed that have lower temperatures than the surrounding city streets - such as parks and air-conditioned public halls. In other cities temporary fountains and mist machines have been set up. A large number of parks, gardens and cemeteries are being kept open all night for people to cool off in. With an extreme risk of forest fires, emergency services and hospitals have been put on alert. Children and the elderly are being cautioned against stepping out during the day in fear of dehydration.

Soaring temperatures are becoming a cause for concern across the globe. Scientists are of the opinion that heat waves of this magnitude are on the increase is further evidence that the Earth's climate is getting affected&nbspdue to&nbspthe burning of fossil fuels and expulsion of greenhouse gases.

It&rsquos going to be scorching summer for Europe.
