Ethiopian Airlines, the largest aviation group in Africa launched a passenger flight to Bengaluru on October 27, 2019. The flight will connect one of the most important industrial hubs in Africa, Addis Ababa to Bengaluru, the Silicone Valley of India. The four weekly flights will connect Bengaluru directly to Addis Ababa and are the latest addition to the existing network of Ethiopian Airlines in India.

Established in 1945, Ethiopian Airlines is exclusively owned by the country&rsquos government and has since spread its networks to over 120 countries across 4 continents. According to Ethiopian Airlines&rsquo Southern African Regional Manager, Abel Alemu, the schedule for the flights is carefully designed to connect passengers efficiently through their global hub in Addis Ababa. They aim at providing the fastest and shortest connections between Bengaluru in South India and more than 60 destinations in Africa and South America. Through increased flight frequency and a variety of gateways in India, Ethiopian Airlines hope to facilitate trade, investment and tourism to and from the Indian sub-continent.

Ethiopian Airlines currently offers two flights daily to Mumbai and New Delhi. The passenger flight to Bengaluru is an addition to the existing cargo services by Ethiopian Airlines in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and New Delhi. This will provide air travellers in the country with a wider array of choices of travel between Africa and India.
