Domestic Tourists Can Now Obtain Nagalands Inner Line Permit Online

Domestic tourists who are planning to visit Nagaland can now obtain their Inner Line Permit (ILP) online. ILP, a permit required by non-nagas to visit the state, will also continue to be available offline. 

According to media reports, any tourist who wishes to obtain the ILP can now visit www.ilp.nagaland.gov.in, where they will be requested to register with their mobile number along with a One Time Password (OTP) being generated. After uploading and submitting all details, and once approved by Commissioner Nagaland, the applicants can move to the online payment procedure.

&ldquoThe payment amounts to Rs 50 for 15 days and Rs 100 for 30 days,&rdquo said Abhijit Sinha, Principal Secretary and Commissioner Nagaland.

&ldquoThe online ILP is going to significantly ease the process of getting an ILP by any tourist from any part of the country who desires to visit Nagaland. If it is done in working days the whole process will just take 5 to 10 minutes. It is also going to be another important step in the State Government&rsquos march towards e-Governance,&rdquo he added. 

All the enforcement agencies of the state government will have access to real time information of the applicants, the number of approvals obtained, the duration of visits and the places of visit.

The Inner Line Permit is an official travel document issued by the Government of India to allow inward travel of an Indian citizen into a protected area for a limited period. The document, derived from the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulations, 1873, regulates the movement to certain areas located near the international border of India. The states that come under the purview of the permit include Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
