Anxious that you might miss your flight while changing terminals Well now, changing terminals has become easier than ever. The Delhi airport authority is considering an air train to shuttle passengers from one terminal to another in order to facilitate hassle free transfers.
The air train is an elevated passenger mover system, which is a part of the on-going expansion of the Delhi airport. With a massive influx of passengers travelling daily from the Indira Gandhi International airport, the DIAL (Delhi International Airport Ltd.), has decided to modify and expand the airport and is all set to introduce these changes by 2022. As of now, passengers transfer between terminals via the shuttle bus service, however introduction of the air train will lead to seamless shuttling between terminals.
The expansions, which will be ready by June 2022, will enable the airport to handle a capacity of 100 million passengers annually. Discussions of a fourth runway are also in the works and hopefully in the next 2 years, the Delhi Airport will be the first airport in India to have four runways. Aside from these changes, the DIAL also plans on introducing dual elevated Eastern Cross Taxiways.
