The oldest national park in India, Jim Corbett is the perfect destination for a jungle safari. An absolute treat for nature and wildlife enthusiasts, the national park is home to a plethora of flora and fauna. In a surprising turn of events, the Corbett Tiger Reserve authorities have decided to do away with the VIP booking quota.
The authorities will no longer entertain VIP stays and requests for safari facility. This move has been taken to provide all tourists an equal opportunity and boost tourism. As per the new directive, special reservations have been ended and the facilities will now be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. Personal requests from those holding high-profile positions often leave the administrative staff struggling to fulfill those demands. But now the sanctuary has been thrown open for all tourists.
Till now, certain number of rooms were reserved for VIP&rsquos, NRI&rsquos and foreign nationals. With the new order in place, the administration will do away with the &lsquoVIP culture&rsquo. The tiger reserve has 75 rooms for all tourists which will now be available for everyone. This move will also prevent fraudulent bookings by travel agents. Authorities have started a crackdown of websites that are cheating tourists on grounds of safari bookings. So far 15 websites have been issued a legal notice.
The CTR administration has also decided to take only one booking from a mobile number so as to prevent malpractices in terms of booking the night and day stays and safaris and selling it to tourists at exorbitant prices. As per reports, the forest minister for Uttarakhand, Harak Singh Rawat has stated that their aim is to promote eco-tourism and provide the best of facilities for tourists from around the world.
