How many of us have experienced, and often cursed, the long commute to the airport in Bengaluru Add to that the killer traffic in the city and you have a fairly disastrous scenario.

Coming to the rescue is an Indian Railways halt station that's opening up near the Kempegowda International Airport. It will be operational by next week.

The halt station, which was completed in October 2020, will possibly benefit 28,000 airport employees and passengers. 

The commemoration of the halt station, situated only 3.5 kms away from the terminal of Kempegowda International Airport, will make the commute easier for thousands as shuttle services will be operated by the Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) based on the train schedules on this route. 

At present only three trains are operational on the Bengaluru International Airport route, run by the national transporter. A list of the trains which will be operated from Devenahalli and Kolar has been submitted by Bengaluru Division to the South Western Railway zone with the Bengaluru Division awaiting the approval of the Railway Board to run the same. 

It cost 3 crores for BIAL to construct the facility between Doddajala railway station and Devanahalli railway station.

The halt station will have booking counters and will include amenities such as restrooms, granite benches for seating, a concourse area and drinking facilities.

For better accessibility, passengers will be able to check the flight details at the station itself. The amenities will be upgraded based on public usage in the future to cater to the needs of the passengers. The fare from Bengaluru city station to the Kempegowda International Airport halt station will cost passengers Rs 30 for express trains and Rs 10 for ordinary trains.
