Air Purifiers Installed Near Taj Mahal

The rising pollution levels in north India have spared no one. Three cities in India are on the worlds most polluted cities list, and it seems to be getting worse. The hazardous air quality levels and the thick layer of smog are one of the biggest concerns in the region with many medical cases being reported, schools being shut and flights getting delayed. Not even one of the most popular Unesco World Heritage Site is spared. The Taj Mahal in Agra, built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan is a symbol of love the construction of the monument began in 1631 with over twenty thousand artisans working to complete it. Today, it attracts millions of tourists every year as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Such a situation is quite dangerous, not only for the tourists visiting but also for the monument itself. Already the Taj Mahal is under scrutiny because of discolouration and staining the Indian Supreme Court in 2018 was ready to shut down Taj Mahal if the state government could not take measures to protect it. The Agra District Administration has installed two vans with air purifiers to combat air pollution near the monument. Owned by a private agency, these vans claim to purify 1.5 million cubic metres of air in eight hours. Though being run on a trial basis, it could give huge relief to the tourists visiting the attraction.
