Book an Icy Stay at this Hotel in the Arctic

As the travel and hospitality sector gradually opens itself to the world, a one-of-its-kind hotel in the Arctic, Icehotel 31, has also resumed its accommodation services for tourists who wish to spend their vacations in a real ice hotel. 

Located 200 km north of the Arctic Circle in Jukkasjarvi, the hotel is specially designed by 24 Swedish artists and built using 1,300 ice blocks. 

One distinct feature about this hotel, according to the recent reports, is the frozen beds that are placed atop reindeer hides in cool suites having below-freezing temperatures. The ice that is gathered to make frozen beds is from the Torne River, which usually melts during spring. Hence rooms are annually designed by international artists as they often cease to exist.

However, due to the ongoing pandemic, no international artists were called to redesign the property this time. 

The task of building the existing property started this year in March with a team of experts and technicians who successfully gathered a massive amount of ice from the river, using special technology and machinery to extract glass-like ice blocks.

Along with the frozen rooms, the hotel also features a frozen forest ceremony hall, a composer suite with curated classical music, an angled typography room, a strawberry suite with an ice sculpture, and much more.
