Chandigarh's Oberoi Sukhvilas

More than a decade ago, Oberoi Hotels Vilas properties were among the first wave of lavish, world-class resorts that helped put India on the global luxury travellers map. Things have been quiet on the Vilas front since then but expect a big bang on December 1, 2016. Thats when the Oberoi Sukhvilas will throw open its grand doors to the rich, if not famous. Set 30 minutes outside Chandigarh city and surrounded by 8,000 protected acres of the Siswan Forest Range, Sukhvilas is a sprawling resort offering every imaginable luxury. A wide range of accommodation is on offer from the staggering 4,220 sq ft Kohinoor Villa, which recalls traditional haveli architecture with three bedrooms and a central courtyard, to Luxury Villas (1,500 sq ft), to the air-conditioned and canopied Royal Forest Tent with Private Pool (self-explanatory, surely), to simple Premier Rooms (make do with 700 sq ft).
