Dubai's reputation as the city of glitz and glam means a lot of people flock to its high-end hotels when they visit. There are plenty of affordable 4-star and 3-star hotels as well but for those on a much tighter budget, or those simply looking to meet people from all over the world in communal settings, hostels are also a viable alternative.
Here are our five top hostels for visitors when they land at the most famous city in the United Arab Emirates.
Grays Hostel By Haly is located a stone's throw from JBR Beach and is also close to the Marina Promenade. It has an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and a shared lounge. Room service and free WiFi are also available. All rooms are non-smoking and come with a tv while selected rooms have a fridge and microwave, too. Alongside mixed-gender, women-only and men-only dormitories, they offer a small double room for two people. Barasti Beach is a 20-minute walk away. Prices start from INR 1,905 for one person staying a single night.

Located on Sheikh Zayed Road and just a five minute car drive from Dubai Mall, Travelers Backpackers has a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, shared kitchens and room service for guests. All units are equipped with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a fridge, coffee machine, bidet and wardrobe. The minimum length of stay is two nights.

Located in the thriving hub of Al Karama, Sakhra Hostel is a men-only accommodation which boasts a shared lounge, terrace and views of the city. There is a designated smoking area and the accommodation is close to the Oud Mehta and Burjuman metro stations. According to Booking.com, every room has a balcony, air conditioning and a shared bathroom. A single night costs INR 1,490 for one person.

This hostel is located in the Dubai Marina area so it is close to Barasti Beach and Marina Beach. It has a bar and guests can make use of a shared kitchen and lounge. According to Booking.com, selected rooms include a kitchen with a stovetop and a toaster. The Mall of the Emirates is a 15-minute drive away.
