India's North-East is an exciting m&eacutelange of various ethnic groups and cultures. &ldquoOur dishes are as unique as our colourful ways of life,&rdquo explained Chef Joel Basumatari as he introduced the diners to the exciting spread. As a part of ITC Hotels&rsquo Kitchens of India initiative, ITC Sonar in Kolkata is holding a food festival titled Jewels of the North East until September 27, 2015. Dishes from the seven sister states of Arunachal, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland &nbspand Tripura as well as Sikkim will be part of the dinner menu. Although the menu will keep on changing to introduce as many dishes as possible, a typical spread may consist of Sikkimese Thupka, Jadoh (a rice preparation from the Khasi hills of Meghalaya), Dhokaanja (lentil dumpling in sour curry), Mangal Ooti (a Manipuri dish of green peas cooked in mustard oil), Rosep Aon (a mixed vegetable delicacy from Nagaland), Awoshi Kipki Ngo Axone (smoked pork with fermented soya bean), roasted Perilla chicken curry, tenderloin in black sesame, mahorbortenga (fish cooked in sour curry, a dish from Assam), Naga scented sticky rice and a dessert.
