For art aficionados, The Met has been a must visit landmark in the Big Apple, albeit one that took up more than its fair share of time, given its rich collections. Well, The Met, or to refer to it formally, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, now has an extension, The Met Breuer, about a quarter of a kilometre away, at the corner of Madison and 75th. Though, if you have walked at The Met, it is unlikely that you shall visit The Met Breuer on the same day. The Met Breuer, designed by Marcel Breuer, opened in March 2016 in the building formerly occupied by the Brutalist Whitney Museum of American Art. The location opened following a year-and-a-half of preparations as part of a $600 million renovation plan. The Met Breuer provides additional space for the public to explore the art of the 20th and 21st centuries through the global breadth and historical reach of The Met&rsquos collection. Highlights include a series of 9-Minute Talks presented by over 30 artists, writers, performers, designers, curators, Met staff, and other creative voices. The opening event was the largest exhibition to date dedicated to Indian modernist Nasreen Mohamedi, on till June 5. www.metmuseum.org/visit/met-breuer
