Nepal opens Everest to climbers

Expeditions to the world&rsquos highest peak, Mt Everest in Nepal, had been stopped following the devastating earthquake and the avalanches. Now pulling all stops to encourage people to visit Nepal and restore the country&rsquos economy through tourism, the government has decided to permit climbers to attempt scaling Mt Everest. Nobukazu Kuriki, a Japanese climber, is the first person to receive the permit since the earthquake in April. He plans to climb in September. According to local reports, 13 foreign expeditions have been permitted to climb other mountains in Nepal. Besides, the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) is &ldquobuilding community trails by involving tourism workers, who had become jobless after the earthquake,&rdquo informed the organisation&rsquos president, Ramesh Prasad Dhamala, in a recent meeting.
