Indian Railways really seems to be upping its game this year. From designer outfits for its employees to introducing Rail Radio, the ministry seems to be doing just the right things to enhance the train experience for its passengers.
The Ministry of Railway recently brought in designer Ritu Beri to design outfits for railway employees. The themes offered by the designer range from Indian tribal art to 'rustic coins'. A committee will also be set up to evaluate the designs' prices and suitability, said an official statement released by the ministry.
In another initiative, the Railway Ministry has announced the start of a Rail Radio service that will allow passengers to tune into popular FM channels while travelling on trains. The service will be started in almost 1,000 mail and express trains, including Duronto, Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains. Apart from doubling up as a public address system, the service will also be used to inform passengers about train-related updates. Music, astrology, jokes and railway history are some of the things that will be used to keep passengers entertained.
