Previously known as Sufi Sutra, Sur Jahan is a three-day music festival that sees participation from traditional musicians from home and abroad. Organised by the Kolkata-based organisation banglanatakdotcom, usually, workshops are held by day and the performances are held in the evening. The Kolkata event, to be held from February 3-5 at Mohar Kunj (a garden opposite Rabindra Sadan in south Kolkata), will include musicians from Sweden, Russia, Denmark, and Czech Republic apart from Indian artists such as Bauls from Bengal and qawwali artists from Punjab. There will also be stalls selling handicrafts of Bengal. The Goa leg of the event will be from February 8 to 10 at Kala Academy, Panjim and the arstists' line up is almost the same.
