Feeling much like a social butterfly myself, I headed out to join the fashionable sundowner &ndash Carnival for a Cause &ndash being held at the pool-side lawns of the Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi. As dusk approached, a host of fashion industry bigwigs and Delhi&rsquos who&rsquos who began to arrive. The Taj Mahal Hotel had organised the carnival to spread awareness about breast cancer. Well, for starters, celebrating women with fashion was just the icing on the cake The designers had slashed the prices on their merchandise so that the price was within the reach of a larger circle of people. The participating designers included Eina Ahluwalia, Masaba, Da Milano and Gaurav Gupta among others. The money raised would go to support the Ogaan Cancer Foundation and Women&rsquos Cancer Initiative &ndash Tata Memorial Hospital.
Complementing the fund raising activities was an array of Mediterranean food, a live band belting out the 70&rsquos hits, an Easter special corner where kids and adults alike (yours truly) took part in some Easter egg-painting activity. The carnival also hosted activities like tarot reading, massages, fortune-telling and basketball.
My personal experience Not only that I felt good being a part of something that dealt with a sensitive cause like breast cancer, but I was also successful in rousing the inner diva residing deep, inside of me. Also, and I won&rsquot lie, how I wished for a parallel universe where we had an access to designer clothes at prices under Rs 2000
