The Kumano Kudo has several trails that one can take however, the most popular routes are the Kohechi, Iseji and Nakahechi routes. The difficulty levels depend solely upon the kind of routes that you choose to take. Certain sections of the trails can prove to be challenging due to various factors such as incline levels, long distances, uneven terrains, etc. Apart from that, the length of the route also plays a vital role. It can take around 4-6 days to complete the hike if you take the Nakahechi route and 5-7 days if you take the Kohechi route. The best time to plan the hike is spring and autumn, as the weather is pleasant.
