Mohali is undergoing a makeover from a sleepy industrial town to a buzzing urban metropolis. The opening of a tony, new, uber-style Microbrewery-cum-restaurant like Hops n Grains in sector 79 of the city is just a confirmation of that trend. &ldquoFrom being the first in the entire region (when we opened our first Hops n Grains in Panchkula), to The Great Bear in Chandigarh, the opening of Hops n Grains in Mohali is a completion of a troika of sorts&rdquo, says Amritanshu, the director of the group.

Designed by Mohali Tricity&rsquos best-known designer Nikhil and Suvrita, the new Hops n Grains microbrewery and restaurant is spread across three floors. Ithas interiors that are contemporary, yet have a classy feel and look to them. The red bricks and old-style lampshades boast of an all-round vibrancy. The central element of the design is the imposing spiral staircase which runs through the first and second floors. Additionally, each floor has a distinct identity&mdashlike the first floor, that has aesthetically designed arches and chandeliers which will take you back to an era long gone by. The other floor has wooden panelings, made of reclaimed railway-sleeper wood. With comfort being the motto, the seating facilities include a mix of cane chairs, leather-clad sofas, and live-edge tables that have a sandblasted, blacktop finish. Says Amritanshu, &ldquoThe interiors are modern. Yet they retain the sense of classiness which we feel should help us draw both youngsters and those in their mature ages, in equal measure.&rdquo

The interiors may be new, but the freshly minted beer, and its sheer variety, remain familiar to beer lovers and retain the same quality as connoisseurs have come to associate the Hops n Grains brand with. To retain a sense of freshness, the restaurant will be introducing new beers every few months. But the marquee drinks like Dunkel Dark and Premium Lager wil continue to be served. Furthermore, a variety of other premium, hard liquor will also be available on the menu.

Extra attention is being paid to detail. Delightful food items, including signature snacks and main-course dishes such as Penne Al Fungi, Grilled Chicken Breast, and Mushroom Hara Pyaz, will continue to be served. The only difference is that there will be new additions to the repertoire, such as Punjabi Fish curry and Nutty Veg Kofta. Impeccable service has been the hallmark of the group&rsquos restaurant and the standards already set continue to be followed here as well.

Regarding expansion plans, Amritanshu says, &ldquoGoing forward, the pace of expansion is going to be faster and quicker as we look for Greenfield opportunities in neighbouring cities which have huge potential but remain largely untapped. The experience we have had over the last 10 years and more should hopefully stand us in good stead.&rdquo
